Contraindications
• Active gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration (or history of)
• History of gastrointestinal bleeding or gastrointestinal perforation related to previous NSAID therapy
• Severe heart failure
• Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to aspirin or any other NSAIDs which includes those in whom attacks of asthma‚ angioedema‚ urticarial or rhinitis have been precipitated by aspirin or any other NSAIDs
• Severe liver disease
• Severe renal impairment
• Elderly patients are at greater risk for serious GI events.
 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Avoid the use of this product during pregnancy especially in the third trimester; if necessary‚ use only by physician’s prescription  
• Use only by physician’s prescription during breastfeeding
 

Cautions
• Allergic disorders (in adults)‚ Cardiac impairment‚ Heart failure‚ Cerebrovascular disease‚ Coagulation defects ‚ Connective tissue disorders‚ Crohn’s disease‚ Uncontrolled hypertension‚ Hepatic impairment‚ renal impairment

Drug interactions
Acetaminophen, Alcohol, Corticosteroids and oral glucocorticoid, Potassium supplements, Anticoagulants; Heparin‚ warfarin, Antidiabetic agents; oral or insulin, Antihypertensive drugs or diuretics; especially triamterene, Aspirin or NSAIDs (two or more concurrently); salicylates other than aspirin, Valproic acid, Colchicine, Digoxin, Lithium, Methotrexate, Photosensitizing medications, Platelet aggregation inhibitors, Probenecid.
Before the use of this medicine, tell your doctor about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
How to take Ibuprofen
Always the doctor tells how to use the medicine, but the usual use is:
Pain or menstrual cramps:
• Adults and teenagers: 200 to 400 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed. If you are taking the medicine without a prescription from your health care professional, do not take more than a total of 1200 mg a day.
• Children up to 12 years of age: use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
Fever:
• Adults and teenagers: 200 to 400 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed. If you are taking the medicine without a prescription from your health care professional, do not take more than a total of 1200 mg a day.
• Children 6 months to 12 years of age: the medicine should be used only with a prescription from your doctor. The dose is based on body weight and body temperature. For fevers lower than 39.2°C the dose is 5 mg per kg of body weight. For higher fevers, the dose is 10 mg per kg of body weight.
• Infants younger than 6 months of age: use and dose must be determined by the doctor.
Arthritis:
• Adults and teenagers: at first a total of 1200 to 3200 mg a day, divided into smaller amounts that are taken 3 or 4 times a day. After your condition improves your doctor may direct you to take a lower dose.
• Children 6 months to 12 years of age: the dose is based on body weight. At first a total of 30 to 40 mg per kg of body weight a day, divided into smaller amounts that are taken 3 or 4 times a day. Your doctor may increase, if necessary, up to a total of 50 mg per kg of body weight a day. After your condition improves your doctor may direct you to take a lower dose.
• Infants younger than 6 months of age: use and dose must be determined by the doctor.
* Swallow the capsule without chewing.

Ibuprofen oral capsules are available as Karnofen ® 400 mg in a cardboard box containing 5 Aluminum –PVC blisters of 10's with a leaflet.

The general guidance for patient
• This medicine has been prescribed for your present disease. Do not pass it on to others with same symptoms.
• Take with food.
• Take with a full glass of water.
• May cause drowsiness
